Webb24 maj 2010 · Exhaust heat shields can be removed in 90% of cases, although as said replacement is better than removal as they do have a function. It won't be detrimental to remove the exhaust ones though. Aslong as it's all metal above it and it won't impact on any rubber, I don't see much issue with removing it. Webb9 juni 2010 · its where they are bolted on, it rusts through, i simply took off the nut and fitted a bigger washer which sits over the non rusted bit of heat shield. no probs after that (until it rusts through again) and i will need a washer the size of a small frisbee lol.
