Web19 okt. 2013 · No way can 35 grains of powder be loaded into a 1860 Colt cylinder with a 3/4 inch long slug rammed over the top of it. 35 grains is even a lot for that 1860 Colt cylinder if a simple lead roundball is being rammed. The chambers on my Uberti 1860 measure 1.325 deep. Subtracting .75 from that leaves a depth of .575. The .440" balls are for use in a 45 calibre muzzleloader rifle as patched round ball. 451 is the recommended, but I have shot 440 in my 44 revolvers. Most would say not to shoot what you can't press down and get a seal out of (shaving the lead ring) which is good advice.
