I guess I would use the cover for long term storage, but don't think it would really be necessary. WebFeb 5, 2024 · When initially loaded, the PMAG GEN M3, and all PMAGs in the current lineup, exhibit a tiny normalization of feed lip geometry within a very small window of time measured in days, and then this geometry then remains stable over many years, heat cycles, cooling cycles, and outdoor UV and weather exposure.

WebOct 14, 2024 · Aside from the Gen I P-Mags, the PMAGs performed just as well as all of the aluminum mags with the lips only expanding by about 0.01 inches after being loaded. I can assume that environmental factors and time would cause this number to rise slightly with the P-mags more than the aluminum mags. WebJan 21, 2012 · A magazine can be loaded for months or years as long as it contains a high quality spring. I have had AR15 mags loaded for years that still function just fine. If you can, I would remove the spring and compare it against a new spring to see how much 'set' it has taken. Giving up 1 or 2 rounds simply takes away from the user’s capabilities and with an in-spec rifle, you should not have issues.
